Dr. John A. Eldridge is a seasoned educational leader with over 32 years of experience in public education, known for his visionary leadership, strategic innovation, and unwavering commitment to student success. He currently serves as the Executive Director of School Services at Performance Charter School Development, where he supports charter schools nationwide in securing permanent facilities and building high-quality, student-centered learning environments.

Dr. Eldridge began his career as an elementary school teacher in Chatham County, North Carolina, before advancing to administrative roles including Assistant Principal at Bonlee Elementary and Principal of Chatham Central High School. His leadership at Chatham Central earned him the Wachovia Principal of the Year awards for both Chatham County and the Piedmont/Triad Central Region.

He later served as Assistant Superintendent for High Schools and Regional Superintendent for Guilford County Schools, where he led transformative efforts in some of the district’s most challenged schools. Under his guidance, all nine schools in the Enrichment Region moved out of low-performing status, supported by strategic staff development and multimillion-dollar federal grants.

From 2012 to 2024, Dr. Eldridge was the Superintendent of Chatham Charter School and founding Superintendent of Central Carolina Academy. He spearheaded the expansion of Chatham Charter from a K–8 to a full K–12 program, overseeing major facility developments and pioneering college credit pathways through partnerships with Central Carolina Community College. His efforts resulted in over 80% of graduates earning an average of 38+ transferable college credits.

Dr. Eldridge holds a Doctorate and Master of School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. He is currently the Vice Chair of the North Carolina Charter School Review Board and actively contributes to statewide charter policy and advocacy.

His affiliations include the NC Virtual Public School Advisory Council, NC Association for Public Charter Schools, Chatham Trades Board of Directors (President), and the Siler City Rotary Club. Past leadership roles include serving as President of the Greensboro Community Theater Board.
