GARY HAWKINS
Founder, Hawkins
Gary Hawkins, a seasoned professional with deep roots in Boise, holds a business degree from Brigham Young University and launched his career in Salt Lake City, Utah. With a strong background in site selection for major corporations such as Smith’s Food and Drug, Safeway, Albertsons, and Circle K, Gary made the strategic decision in 1976 to return to Boise and establish his own development firm.
Over the years, Gary has successfully executed the development of numerous commercial properties, including medical office buildings, shopping centers, power centers, and entertainment complexes with theater anchors, across 26 states. He has accumulated a wealth of experience and expertise in the industry.
Furthermore, Gary has also served as a senior instructor within the commercial investment division of the National Association of Realtors (CCIM), where he contributed to the development and delivery of courses on financial analysis, market feasibility, and shopping center development. With a reputation for excellence, Gary has conducted seminars in various cities nationwide, showcasing his knowledge and experience to a wide audience.
BRIAN HUFFAKER
CEO, Hawkins
Brian Huffaker has been a valuable member of Hawkins and its affiliate Hawkins-Smith since March 1994. In January 2016, he assumed the role of President of Hawkins Companies, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the company. Over the past decade, Brian has held positions as Director of Development Services and Chief Operating Officer, where he managed all development activities within the Legal, Construction, and Predevelopment departments. He played a crucial role in ensuring projects met feasibility requirements, delivery schedules, and client expectations.
RYAN CARLSON
EVP, Head of Capital Markets, Hawkins
In February 2022, Ryan joined Hawkins after serving as Senior Vice President at Waypoint Residential, where he oversaw over $3.5 billion in assets across 18,000 units in the Southeast and Southwest. He has extensive experience with various lenders and agencies, including Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. Before Waypoint, he worked at Cushman & Wakefield in New York, focusing on debt and structured finance deals in the middle market. He has executed over $1 billion worth of transactions on a range of assignments.
